Logo Redesign

BCOMM led the logo redesign and development of a comprehensive branding system for the relaunch of the African American Community Health Equity Council (AACHEC), San Francisco’s Black-led health equity table.

The initiative is designed to translate community experience and public health data into a shared policy agenda and advance public accountability.

Originally convened by Rafiki Coalition, AACHEC grew into a trusted, community-driven body representing more than 95 organizations at its peak. Following the expiration of dedicated funding around 2017, AACHEC entered a period of dormancy.

In 2026, AACHEC returns—transforming community insight
into policy action for Black health equity.

This relaunch comes at a critical moment. San Francisco’s latest Community Health Needs Assessment reveals persistent disparities for Black/African American residents across life expectancy, health outcomes, and economic stability. As the city prioritizes access to care, behavioral health, and economic security, the need for a coordinated, Black-led table to drive equitable solutions is clear.

Originally created in 2008, AACHEC’s logo featured the Sankofa bird, an Adinkra symbol representing the importance of learning from the past to build a stronger future. As part of the relaunch, BCOMM evolved this legacy mark into a modern, policy-forward identity that maintains cultural grounding while strengthening clarity, credibility, and recognition across audiences.
