BCOMM works with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Contractors Assistance Center (CAC) to develop the Connector Newsletter, a bi-monthly email publication that provides updates, resources, and upcoming events for local contractors and small businesses.

The Contractors Assistance Center (CAC), provides free support to local businesses, including Local Business Enterprises (LBEs), to help them access and navigate City contracting opportunities. Through training programs, one-on-one guidance, and technical resources, the CAC supports LBEs build capacity and compete for public sector work.

The Connector

BCOMM devised the name of The Connector Newsletter and worked with the CAC to outline the scope of the new initiative: creating a communications tool designed to uplift local voices and provide Local Business Enterprises (LBEs) with resources, updates, and opportunities for growth. Through thoughtful storytelling and design, the newsletter strengthens visibility, fosters connection, and supports the continued success of San Francisco’s small business community.

Local Business Enterprise
(LBE) Spotlight

The LBE Spotlight highlights standout businesses and their most impactful projects, featuring small business owners like Alphonso Rhodes, Founder of AJS Painting & Decorating. BCOMM conducts outreach, interviews featured businesses, and drafts the accompanying content to showcase each entrepreneur’s story and achievements.

“Tools of the Trade”

The Tools of the Trade section delivers practical guidance and real-world insight for Local Business Enterprises (LBEs) navigating San Francisco’s contracting and construction landscape. City leaders like Stephanie Tang, Former Director of the Contract Monitoring Division (CMD) and current Deputy City Administrator, provide actionable advice on topics such as certification readiness, compliance, contract navigation, and long-term business growth.

BCOMM remains proud to support the Connector Newsletter as a platform that uplifts
San Francisco’s small business and contractor community. Through strategic storytelling, outreach, and design, we help connect Local Business Enterprises (LBEs) to valuable resources, opportunities, and visibility while celebrating the businesses and leaders helping shape the city’s future.
